Poni Place is where DOT wants the Paia Bypass to cross Baldwin Avenue. This is a tiny one-lane road running right next to several old plantation houses. There is a cane field mauka of Poni Place. To avoid knocking down an entire street of houses, the two mauka houses on Baldwin would have to be demolished. A teenager and his mother who live on Poni Pl had not heard they were on the proposed bypass route. The quite steep hill coming off Baldwin would make this option dangerous and there is no existing road west of Baldwin Ave.
Waa Place is the proposed terminus of the bypass. There are about 3 multi-million dollar homes in this tiny cul de sac. I doubt they will want headlights shining into their windows.
